Regarding The Exploding Of The ITSS Smelter, The Coordinating Ministry For Maritime Affairs And Fisheries Is Waiting For The Results Of The Investigation

The Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Kemenko Marves) has confirmed that it will wait for the results of investment in work accidents that occurred at PT Indonesia Tsingshan Stainless Steel (ITSS), which operates in the Industrial Estate of PT Indonesia Morowali Industrial Park (IMIP), Central Sulawesi.

Deputy for Investment and Mining at the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs, Septian Hario Seto, said that the police and the manpower department had investigated the incident by examining the location and evidence.

"We are not speculating and will wait for the results. It is important to ensure that the SOP K3 (Standard Operational Procedure Health and Work Safety) can be carried out properly for the safety and prevention of future accidents," he said, quoting Antara.

Seto emphasized that the government's current focus is to ensure that victims who are still being treated receive adequate treatment.

"Based on that the company provides care according to the doctor's assessment and the family's request, so that they can recover and return to their activities," he said.

"Make sure the rights of the deceased are given in full, including scholarships for children who are left to college. Meanwhile, for victims who are being treated, we have conveyed to the company that the compensation or compensation is in accordance with needs," said Seto.

On the same occasion, Acting Regent Morowali Rachmansyah Ismail conveyed that as of Wednesday (27/12) at 13.11 WITA, out of a total of 59 victims, 19 people died consisting of 11 TKI and 8 foreign workers (TKA). A total of 10 TKI are undergoing outpatient treatment, 14 TKI are being treated at the Morowali Hospital, 6 people are being treated at the IMIP Clinic consisting of 3 TKP and 3 TKI, 8 people consisting of 3 TKI were referred to Palopo and 5 foreign workers were referred to China. In addition, there are 2 TKI who are undergoing self-care.

The Morowali Regency Government provided cash assistance worth Rp. 167,500,000, with details of Rp. 77,500,000 for victims who died, and Rp. 90,000,000 for victims who were being treated. The Morowali Regency Government also provided assistance for 12 ambulance units from villages, health centers and associations around the TKP, there were also 6 ambulance units from PT IMIP, and 4 units from other companies.

Meanwhile, from PT IMIP which oversees ITSS operations, it is emphasized that there is no threat of layoffs on employees who distribute videos related to the explosion of the work accident. The company also hopes that the results of the investigation can provide further clarity.
