Narcotics Prisoner Ask 'Pepes', The Nephew Brought Pepes Tilapia, Whose Contents Turned Out To Be Sabu

SIDOARJO - Officers of the Class I Detention Center in Surabaya in Medaeng, Sidoarjo, East Java thwarted the smuggling of suspected meth-type drugs in the stomach of fish by storing drive-thru goods.

Head of Medaeng Detention Center Security, Deri Prihandoko, said the smuggling was carried out by a man with the initials HA. Drugs are put into the stomach of tilapia fish.

"The incident occurred this morning at around 09.00 WIB, HA took advantage of the drive-thru luggage storage service", he said as quoted by Antara, Friday, February 19.

Deri said the smugglers were asked to wait until the goods were checked by officers. The HA smuggler claims to be HBR's nephew, a prisoner in a drug abuse case.

"At that time, HA left food and medicine for our detainee named HBR", he said.

In accordance with the applicable SOP, he said, prison officials serving goods storage move the items deposited into transparent plastic bags.

"The officers carried out a search of the food that was entrusted. Namely, seven pepes tilapia fish (fish cooked in banana leaf wraps)," he said.

Not wanting to be complacent, the clerk who was at the drive-thru service center immediately checked the food.

"HA shows suspicious signs when we move food into plastic, we immediately take action," said Deri.

The officers' suspicion was proven, when opening the first fish's stomach, there was a white crystalline powder wrapped in paper. The paper is twisted so that it looks like a rolled cigarette.

"Well, inside there is a white crystalline powder wrapped in plastic clips", he said.

According to him, the same thing was also found when the officers dissected the fish next.

"The evidence has not been weighed, but there are seven packages suspected of methamphetamine, six are wrapped in paper, one package is wrapped in plastic clips", said Head of Medaeng Detention Center Wahyu Hendrajati.

The detention center directly contacted the police to follow up on the process. The evidence and the suspect have been submitted to the Waru Police.

"We are currently conducting interrogations and securing HBR in an isolation cell", he said.
