VIDEO: Depok Ranks 4th National Scale As The City With The Lowest Poverty

JAKARTA - Depok has just achieved the latest achievement, which is up one rank from fifth to fourth as a city with the lowest poverty rate.

Deputy Mayor of Depok, Imam Budi Hartono stated that in 2023 Depok City will rank fourth nationally as the area with the lowest poverty rate. In the first position is Sawahlunto, the second is Bandung Regency, and the third is Balikpapan City.

Last year, the poverty rate in Depok City was 2.53 percent and this year the percentage of the poverty rate fell to 2.38 percent, Deputy Mayor of Depok, who is usually familiarly called Bang Imam, also explained that the poor population was calculated from Susenas, namely residents who had an average per capita expenditure per month below the poverty line. He also said that one of the important aspects in supporting poverty reduction strategies is the availability of accurate poverty data.

Bang Imam also added that the poverty data could be used to evaluate the government's performance in dealing with poverty by comparing data from time to time. The Poverty Line (GK) is the addition of the Food Poverty Line (GKM) and the Non-Food Poverty Line (GKNM).

So residents who have an average monthly per capita expenditure below the poverty line are categorized as poor people. Imam explained that he used the basic need approach concept or the ability to meet basic needs in measuring poverty. Watch the video below.
