Position Extended By The Constitutional Court Until April 2024, Bima Arya Focuses On Fixing Angkots And Traffic Jams

Bogor Mayor Bima Arya welcomed the decision of the Constitutional Court (MK), which granted his proposal asking that his term as regional head not be cut.

"Today, the Constitutional Court has decided to grant our lawsuit from the regional head, who requested that his term of office not be cut, meaning that this is the cancellation of the termination of the term of office of the regional head be returned according to normal schedule and we will remain on duty until the end of the 2024 term of office," said Bima Arya Thursday, December 21 night.

According to him, the decision of the Constitutional Court is the highest and final so that he gets legal certainty to run as regional head in Bogor City until the end of his term of office on April 20, 2024.

Meanwhile, the trial of the Constitutional Court's decision which was attended by representatives from government elements, representatives from the DPR should be able to be executed directly by the government in the sense that there is no process of appointing an Acting for the Mayor of Bogor.

"Total berdasarkan catatan kami hampir 50 kepala daerah gubernur dan wali kota yang akan bertugas sampai di akhir, jadi ini berarti membalikan hak warga untuk memastikan kepala daerah bertugas sampai di akhir masa jabatan," ucapnya.

"And I invite all regional heads who will serve until 2024 to continue to strive, serve residents to provide the best for residents until the end of their term of office, until the end of our sweat points we give the best, the best service to residents according to campaign promises," he continued.

When asked about the reason why the Constitutional Court granted its lawsuit, Bima Arya explained that it did not interfere with the simultaneous elections (elections).

However, the Constitutional Court noted that the term of office would be maximized for up to 5 years, except or a maximum of one month before voting during the simultaneous regional elections.

The Mayor of Bogor for two periods gave an example that if the Pilkada is held in November, the regional head must end his term of office in October.

On that occasion, Bima Arya ensured that residents of Bogor City would be on the streets to deal with public transportation, to unravel congestion in the Empang area.

"I will still make sure the Square is not chaotic, ensure that the garbage is transported, I will still be down in the community so that his aspirations for Musrembang are heard, accommodated and planned and provide the best for the residents of Bogor," he said.

Bima Arya promised to oversee the construction of 2024, including overseeing long-term development documents which are considered very important to determine the future of Bogor City.

Previously, the Constitutional Court (MK) decided to accept a lawsuit related to Article 201 paragraph (5) of the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 10 of 2016 concerning Pilkada.

Secara otomatis sejumlah kepala daerah angkatan yang Pilkadanya pada 2018 dan ditangkatkan 2019 tuntas berakhir pada Akhir Desember ini.

Meanwhile, Bogor Mayor Bima Arya along with a number of other regional heads filed a lawsuit with the Constitutional Court on November 15.
