Thwarting Her Grandmother's Thief, Syifa Gets An Award From The Police
JAKARTA - The South Jakarta Metro Police gave an award to a woman named Syifa (17). Syifa is considered to have contributed to thwarting the mugging action experienced by her grandmother in the Tebet area.
"We are giving a plaque of appreciation for Syifa's courage to thwart the mugging action," said South Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Azis Andriansyah, quoted by Antara, Thursday, February 18.
Syifa and her grandmother Oni (57) were invited to the Police Headquarters to receive their thanks. Syifa admitted that she reacted spontaneously when she found out that her grandmother was a victim of mugging.
The action was carried out by crashing his body into a motorcycle driven by two perpetrators of snapping a cellphone on Sunday, February 14 at Jalan Swadaya Manggarai, Tebet.
Thanks to Syifa's action, one actor on behalf of Arif Sugiarto (26) was secured by residents. Meanwhile, another perpetrator, Ilham (23), fled on a motorcycle.
"Arif is a recidivist with a case of carrying a sharp weapon, he will be released in December 2020," said Azis.
Azis admitted that he had carried out mugging three times targeting the negligent and weak residents (women and children).
The cellphone that he stole was sold to the collector with prices starting at Rp. 700 thousand to Rp. Rp. 1 million.
Meanwhile, the perpetrator of Ilham was arrested by the Tebet Metro Police on Wednesday, February 17 at his home in the East Jakarta area.
Not only did they arrest the two mugging, the police also seized evidence of the crime in the form of a motorbike used by the perpetrator, as well as evidence of the victim's cell phone.
"We apply Article 363 of the Criminal Code against the two perpetrators with a maximum of seven years in prison," said Azis.
There were three cases of mugging in South Jakarta which occurred on Sunday, February 14th. The first incident in Kebagusan Besar, Pasar Minggu District, befell a six-year-old child, two of whom took a gold necklace worth Rp1.5 million.
The next jambret incident was at Jalan Bayem, Kebayoran Baru, where the perpetrators numbered two people who took the cell phone belonging to an 11 year old girl.
Then the mugging at Jalan Swadaya Manggarai, Tebet, two of the snatchers took the cellphone belonging to a 57 year old grandmother.
