VIDEO: Abdul Ghani And A Row Of Governors Who Deal With Corruption Cases
JAKARTA - Recently, the Governor of North Maluku, Abdul Ghani Kasuba, was caught in a hand arrest operation at a hotel in South Jakarta with alleged corruption cases. In the last 5 years, based on reports, at least 3 active governors were arrested by the KPK due to similar cases.
Abdul Ghani and 14 other people were caught in a hand arrest operation on Monday, December 18. A total of 14 of them consisted of a number of officials and private parties. Head of the KPK News Section, Ali Fikri, gave information that the 14 people and Abdul Ghani were undergoing examination at the KPK's Red and White Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta.
This arrest operation was carried out in connection with the alleged auction of positions and procurement of goods and services submitted by the Deputy Chairperson of the KPK, Nurul Ghufron. Abdul Gani is not the first. There were also several other governor figures who were caught in a similar case, including: the Governor of Papua, Lukas Enembe, who was arrested in January 2023 on suspicion of irregularities and mismanagement of money based on the findings of cash deposits of 560 billion rupiah to the Singapore casino and the purchase of luxury watches worth 550 million rupiah.
The Governor of South Sulawesi, Nurdin Abdullah, who was sentenced to 5 years in prison in November 2021 for bribery and gratification cases amounting to 12.6 billion rupiah, 6.5 billion rupiah and 200 thousand Singapore dollars from 9 entrepreneurs. Governor of Jambi, Zumi Zola, who was proven to have received gratuities of 40 billion rupiah, 177 thousand US dollars, and 100 thousand Singapore dollars with a sentence of 6 years in prison and the revocation of political rights for 5 years after serving a criminal sentence.
