No Longer Used, The Trump Campaign Application Was Removed By Google From The Play Store

JAKARTA - The end of 2021 is a bad time for Donald Trump. This is because the 45th President of the United States (US) can no longer tweet on his favorite social media, Twitter.

Not only Twitter, a number of other social media platforms have also suspended Donald Trump's account. Google recently uninstalled Trump's campaign app from the Play Store app store.

According to the Android Police report, Google suspended an application called the Official Trump 2020 App from the Play Store because it is no longer used and is working properly.

Before being suspended, the application, which campaigns for Donald Trump as the official US president, provides news, event schedules, and how to send donations for the campaign.

"Or simply displaying a rotating circle indicating that the loading data is being repeated," wrote the Android Police team, Thursday, February 18.

Meanwhile, the iOS version of this app is still available on the App Store. The amazing thing is, the iOS version of the application actually functions optimally.

Google explains several reasons that led the company to suspend the application. According to Google, every application distributed through its app store must have “Minimum Functionality” as part of Play Store policies.

"The Trump 2020 campaign application recently stopped working and we have been contacting the developer many times so they can immediately fix the problem," explained Google to Android Police.

Indeed, it is possible that the removal of this application is related to the political conditions of the United States, such as Trump's second impeachment. However, the suspension can also be interpreted as a continuation of technological activism to limit the former president of the United States' digital activities.

Whatever the conditions, it seems that netizens can breathe a little easier. At the very least, the controversial posts and tweets of the 45th president of the United States will not appear for some time to come.
