Boycott Calls For Eurovision That Allows Israel To Compete Next Year
JAKARTA - Eurovision, an annual song contest held between member countries of the European Broadcasting Union, received strong reactions and calls for a boycott after allowing Israel to compete next year.
Israel is included in the list of contestants participating in Sweden next year, so many are calling for the Zionist nation to be barred from participating in the contest due to the genocide they commit in Gaza.
According to Al Jazeera's latest report, at least 10,812 Palestinians in Gaza have been killed in Israeli attacks since October 7. In Israel, the death toll in the same period reached more than 1,400 people.
The UN agency for Palestinian refugees, UNWRA (via euronews), also claims that nearly 1.9 million people more than 85 percent of the population in Gaza are refugees. No wonder many people on social media criticize Eurovision's decision.
I am 100 percent boycotting Eurovision because they decided to include Israel and Azerbaijan even though they committed atrocities and crimes against humanity. The organization is very bad," said one netizen on X.

"If you think the world will see you cover up Israel's genocide against Palestinians, you're wrong," said another.
A petition was also launched by one of the users calling for Israel to be expelled.
According to The Times Of Israel, the Association of Composers and Lirik Writers in Iceland called on Israel not to participate in next year's Eurovision competition.
It said they felt they had the obligation to take a stand against war and the killing of civilians and innocent children.
Earlier, when Iceland joined Eurovision 2019, Hatari - her country's representative music group - raised the Palestinian flag during the contest, violating competition rules, resulting in sanctions.
