Central Papua Provincial Government Disburses IDR 31 Billion In Poverty Management

JAYAPURA - The Central Papua Provincial Government disbursed direct assistance of IDR 31.65 billion to the people in eight districts in order to deal with extreme poverty in the local area.

Acting Governor of Central Papua Ribka Haluk said the gift was the government's commitment to alleviating extreme poverty and supporting the national target to 0 percent in 2024.

"Source on social assistance funds from the Social Service with a budget year of 2023 which will distribute later through the Pos Indonesia office," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, December 13.

According to Ribka, his party has signed cooperation in distributing the aid which will be distributed in eight regencies and cities.

"For those who receive assistance, it is enough to bring an ID card and it will be served immediately, besides that, we will door to door to a resident's house to distribute this assistance so that it can be right on target," he said.

He explained that based on data on the acceleration of the elimination of extreme poverty (P3KE) issued by the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenko PMK RI), data on the extreme poor in Central Papua Province is 71,388 people.

"We will provide assistance to 11,107 people with a total fund of RP31.65 billion, as reported," he said.

With this assistance, his party hopes to reduce data on extreme poverty in Central Papua Province.

"This assistance provided can also take advantage of it wisely so as to improve the economic capacity of the family," he said.
