Bringing The Father Of The Riot Victims May 22, 2019 To The Debate Of The Presidential Election, Anies: Until Today There Has Been No Clarity

JAKARTA - Presidential candidate number 1, Anies Baswedan unexpectedly brought Didin Wahyudin to the inaugural 2024 presidential election debate arena.

Didin is the father of Harun Al Rasyid, a victim of the May 21-22 riots in 2019 which occurred due to a demonstration against the results of the 2019 election recapitulation. Harun died in the riot that ended in chaos.

Didin sat right behind the seats of Anies and Muhaimin Iskandar (Cak Imin) in the line of his support team. Harun's mother who was also present beside Didin. Didin's presence was also mentioned by Anies in the initial presentation of the debate.

"Present with me here his father must be Al Rasyid. Harun is the son who died a supporter of Pak Prabowo in the 2019 presidential election who demanded justice at that time, protested the election results. What happened? He died. Until today there is no clarity," said Anies, Tuesday, December 12.

On that occasion, Anies also mentioned the case of Mega Suryani Dewi's death due to cases of domestic violence (KDRT). According to Anies, these cases of violence cannot be tolerated.

Anies claims that he and the vice presidential pair Muhaimin Iskandar (Cak Imin) will prevent violence against the community, especially those who care about the marginal if elected as President and Vice President.

"We dedicate, we give a commitment that from the summit to the bottom we will uphold the law on anyone, we return the dignity of state life which places the law as the highest place," he said.

In the 2024 presidential election, 5 presidential and vice presidential debates were held. The first, third, and fifth debates were specifically for presidential candidates. Meanwhile, the second and fourth debates were a special debate for vice presidential candidates.

The theme of the inaugural debate tonight raised the theme of law and human rights, government, eradication of corruption, strengthening democracy, improving public services, and harmony of citizens.

The first place of debate was created with a design that was made circularly like a stands in a football stadium. The capacity of this townhall model debate can accommodate up to 800 people.

In its implementation, the debate will last for 150 minutes. Especially the debate session lasted for 120 minutes, and the remaining 30 minutes of advertising shows. Debate is divided into six segments.
