Ganjar Yakin Digitalisasi Perpajakan Bisa Kerek Rasio Pajak RI

Presidential candidate number 3, Ganjar Pranowo assesses that tax digitization is an effective way to increase Indonesia's tax ratio (tax ratio).

Ganjar said that currently Indonesia needs a simpler tax payment system to encourage people to be more tax-abiding. This will increase the tax ratio

"Pajakruwet, try to make a taximple, surely people will want to [tax payment], let alone digitize it," said Ganjar in the Apindo Candidate Dialogue 2024 as reported by ANTARA, Monday, December 11.

The Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) recorded the ratio of tax revenue to Indonesia's gross domestic product (GDP) in the sense of 10.39 percent in 2022.

This statement was Ganjar's response after being asked about the solution to the low tax revenue ratio. The former Minister of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia who is also a businessman, Gita Wirjawan also said that Indonesia's tax ratio percentage is still very sub-optimal below 10 percent.

In addition, according to Ganjar, there needs to be a special institution under the direct president, which was established to manage state tax revenues.

"For example, now it feels like the matter of state tax revenues and non-taxes is no longer being handled by the director-general. That should be handled by institutions under the direct president," he explained.

The government is currently carrying out tax reforms. Director General of Taxes at the Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) Suryo Utomo said the full implementation of the Population Identification Number (NIK) was the Taxpayer Identification Number (NPWP) which was carried out in mid-2024 or when the Tax Administration Core System (core tax) was carried out.

He reported that the NIK matching process to NPWP continues to run, which as of November 22, 2023 there were 59.3 million NIK taxpayers who had been matched to NPWP or 82.4 percent of the 72 million taxpayers.
