Tourists To Bali Are Predicted To Increase, ASDP Operates Gilimanuk Pier IV Ahead Of The Year-End Holiday

JAKARTA - PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) has started operating Pier IV Gilimanuk to increase dock capacity ahead of the 2023 Christmas and 2024 New Year Transport periods.

ASDP Corporate Secretary Shelvy Arifin said ASDP as the ferry port operator had made preparations for the 2023 Christmas and 2024 New Year Transportation services.

"Especially for the readiness of the pedestrian service infrastructure in Ketapang-Gilimanuk, which is expected to be crowded ahead of the year-end holidays where people will travel across to Bali," said ShelvyArifin as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, December 11.

In terms of infrastructure, ASDP has completed an increase in the capacity of the pontoon pier at Gilimanuk Port, Bali, which was originally with a capacity of 10 tons to become a Movable Bridge (MB) dock with a capacity of 60 tons so that large ships can dock, so they can serve ships with a capacity of up to 4,000 GRT.

Previously, the sandar trial for Pier IV was carried out on Sunday (10/12) using the KMP Jatra II which has a loading capacity of approximately 400 mixed vehicles.

Meanwhile, in terms of port facilities, ASDP prepares for the operation of large ships across Ketapang Gilimanuk to break the density.

The increase in dock capacity from what was originally the type of pontoon pier to the Moveable Bridge pier began with the groundbreaking program for the Gilimanuk Ponton Pier improvement project, Friday (23/6).

"This gradual work is an effort to improve Gilimanuk Port service infrastructure in collaboration with the Jembrana government," said Shelvy.

Gilimanuk Port Ponton Pier, which was originally only able to serve ships up to 1,000 GRTs, has transformed into MB Pier which has a capacity of 4,000 GRT.

The pier length has been added from 24 meters to 75 meters and trestle from 25 meters to 85 meters with facilities covering 3 Mooring Dolphin units and 5 Bresthing Dolphin units.
