Chiesa Disconnects Porto Clean Sheet At Home But Juve Still Lose

JAKARTA - Juventus were defeated by FC Porto with a score of 1-2 in the first leg of the Champions League last 16 at Estadio do Dragao, Porto, Thursday morning WIB.

Porto opened the scoring with Mehdi Taremi's goal after just two minutes, before Moussa Marega's goal doubled their lead in the 46th minute. Juventus was only able to reply to one goal through Federico Chiesa in the 82nd minute.

Juve started very badly. Rodrigo Bentancur's effort to send a pass to Wojciech Szczesny actually allowed Taremi who was behind him to grab the ball into the visitors' goal.

Problems for Juventus grew when Giorgio Chiellini had to be pulled off the field with a calf injury after only 35 minutes of action. Coach Andrea Pirlo put Merih Demiral to replace the captain.

Porto goalkeeper Agustin Marchesin had just put in the hard work just before halftime when he tipped off Adrien Rabiot's overhead kick. However, Rabiot's position was already in an offside position.

After halftime, the Juventus goal conceded again. Wilson Manafa started running on the right, then sent the ball to Marega. Marega was surrounded by Juventus defenders, but he still managed to get his shot into the visitors' goal.

Porto could have been three goals ahead when Sergio Oliviera ran towards the center of the Juventus penalty area, and Szczesny saved his shot.

Pirlo then brought on Alvaro Morata, but the offside flag was raised when Szczesny brushed off Corona's strike. On the other hand, Bentancur and Danilo fired bouncing shots from distance.

The hosts had another good chance when Marko Grujic headed just wide.

But Juve were finally able to create an opportunity and use it for the return goal when Rabiot sent a pass from the left and pushed it for Chiesa to kick it for.

This goal was a valuable goal for Juventus because it was an away goal, as well as the first time Porto conceded a goal at home in the Champions League this season.

The goal also ended a streak of five clean sheets across competitions overall.

The two teams will play the second leg, with Juventus being the host on March 10.
