Inter Milan Revamps Team Salary Structure to Make Lautaro Martinez Highest Paid in Italy
JAKARTA - Inter Milan wants to retain striker Lautaro Martinez by paying him a high salary. If the new contract is signed, Martinez will become the player with the highest salary in Italy.
Martinez's contribution, role and loyalty mean that Inter don't want to let him go. The Argentine national team striker also showed his desire to remain with Inter.
Previously, Martinez was targeted by Barcelona. This offer from the La Liga giants made Martinez waver.
Moreover, the club does not mind releasing this 26-year-old player if the purchase price proposed by Barca meets Inter's request.
However, Barca could not fulfill this request so the plan to recruit Martinez was canceled.
Martinez also remains committed and loyal to the Nerazzurri. Moreover, he then led Inter to win the Scudetto and Coppa Italia. Unfortunately, Inter failed in the 2022/2023 Champions League final.
This season, Martinez is again Inter's mainstay. Especially after he became team captain.
Martinez demonstrated goal productivity by finding the back of the opponent's goal 15 times and making three assists during 19 matches.
Martinez has also scored a total of 117 goals and made 39 assists during 257 matches in various competitions.
Martinez's success and loyalty made Inter want to immediately renew his contract.
Currently, the contract of the player who joined Inter in 2018 only ends in 2026. He is already one of the players with the highest salary, namely 6.5 million euros or 108 billion net rupiah every year.
According to the plan, Inter will increase Martinez's salary when offering him a new contract. In fact, Inter has even overhauled its player salary structure in order to give Martinez the highest salary.
The reason is, Inter will give Martinez a salary of up to 10 million euros or 167 billion per year. This makes Martinez the player with the highest salary in Italy.
Inter are still negotiating with Alejandro Camano, Martinez's agent, to discuss a contract that will have a long duration.
Inter Vice President, Javier Zanetti, said that the team was looking for a leader. Martinez is considered capable of taking on that role.
