An Anime Symphony Is Not An Ordinary Classical Music Concert
JAKARTA - The concert titled An Anime Symphony by the Jakarta Concert Orchestra (JCO) will be held at the Jakarta Theater Building, Taman Ismail Marzuki, Central Jakarta on Saturday, December 9.
Interestingly, 2000 tickets sold for two shows on November 9 and 14, sold out in a matter of minutes.
Avip Priatna as Director of Music and Conductor of Jakarta Concert Orchestra admitted that he was surprised to see the enthusiasm of the audience. The reason is, the theme of the anime is the first time that JCO has carried out it to be held in a concert.
"Frankly, when I read comments on Instagram, I was excited. It turned out to be that enthusiastic, it seems a bit different from before. If the classic audience is calmer. Yes, look at the response like that, so I'm very happy," said Avip Priatna during a press conference in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta on Thursday, December 7th.
Avip is well aware that many anime fans will come to watch by bringing high expectations.
If usually new arrangements are presented when presenting classical or pop musical works, Avip asks his team to make arrangements that are similar to the song.
"I asked the arranger to make the arrangement similar to the original. Honestly, I'm not ready to hear the audience's complaints if they feel the music is not the same as the original," Avip said with a laugh.
Avip said that this concert would be different from classic music concerts in general. Spectators are allowed to attend with the cosplay of their favorite character. An Anime Symphony is not just a classic music concert or anime songs, but is a combination of the two.
Later, viewers are also not required to follow general ethics when watching classical music that tends to be rigid. As long as it doesn't interfere with other audiences, those who come can enjoy and express their expressions for the music they play.
"We have also thought about what about viewers who have never watched a classic music concert before. We have tried to explain the regulations through the Jakarta Concert Orchestra Instagram," said Avip.
AUDIences may come cosplay, they can also express themselves when music is played. But what is certain is not to disturb other audiences, if you bring a stick, don't let the audience behind you, and if you want to sing, don't disturb those nearby," he added.
Meanwhile, responding to the many requests from those who did not get tickets to watch An Anime Symphony, JCO confirmed that it would hold a similar concert again in the near future.
