The Police Arrested A Duo Of Snatching Children In Kebayoran
JAKARTA - The police have arrested two people, suspected of being child mugging recidivists, who often act in Jakarta.
South Jakarta Police Chief Kombes Azis Andriansyah said one of the perpetrators was a recidivist of the December 2020 assimilation program.
"The perpetrators targeted small children who were careless, easy and careless," said Kombes Azis as quoted by Antara, Wednesday, February 17.
The perpetrator has carried out the mugging action five times. Finally, the two perpetrators took action at Jalan Bayem, Kebayoran Baru District, South Jakarta on Sunday, February 14.
The two perpetrators carried out the mugging action with the victim an 11 year old girl.
The action of the perpetrator went viral on social media, when the perpetrator snatched a child who was caught on surveillance camera (CCTV) in the area.
"At that time, the two perpetrators went around looking for random victims, passing Jalan Bayem, Kebayoran Baru where they met a group of small children carrying cell phones (cell phones). The perpetrator pretended to ask for the address, when the victim was caught off guard," said Azis.
After stealing the victim's cellphone, the two perpetrators fled on a motorcycle. The victim had pursued the perpetrator, but because he was still a child, he was unable to pursue the perpetrator.
According to Azis, the mugging incident went viral after the video was uploaded to social media on Tuesday, February 16. However, the South Jakarta Metro Police have come to the scene of the incident on Sunday, February 14th to investigate the scene of the incident.
"We immediately formed a team to attend the TKP and then formed a special team led by the Criminal Investigation Unit to immediately identify the perpetrators," said Azis.
The two perpetrators with the initials NUN (24) and Al Haq (27) are recidivists of similar cases. The perpetrator had acted in the areas of Karang Tengah, Kalibata, Jalan Bayem and Hangtuah Raya.
"Until now, we have only admitted to five crime scenes, we will develop them again. Against the two perpetrators, we will apply Article 363 of the Criminal Code with the threat of a five-year prison sentence," said Azis.
