A Total Of 10 Suspects Of Persecution After Clashes In Bitung Were Arrested By The Police
The North Sulawesi (Sulut) Regional Police have arrested ten suspects for alleged abuse and one suspect for alleged hate speech after the incident that occurred in Bitung City some time ago.
"Until now, the ranks of the North Sulawesi Regional Police's Ditreskrimum have arrested ten suspects suspected of being the perpetrators of the persecution," said Head of Public Relations of the North Sulawesi Regional Police, Kombes Iis Kristian, in Manado, as reported by ANTARA, Monday, December 24.
The ranks of the Ditreskrimsus Polda North Sulawesi, have also arrested one person suspected of being the perpetrator of the ITE Law criminal act, namely hate speech.
"We convey that the arrest of the perpetrator suspected of committing a criminal act of conveying hate speech through one of the social media platforms," he said.
This disclosure is based on cyber patrols carried out by Sub-Directorate V Cyber Ditreskrimsus Polda North Sulawesi.
"Furthermore, on Friday (1/12), the perpetrator of the account owner was arrested on one of the social media platforms," said Iis Kristian.
From the perpetrators, investigators secured a cellphone, screenshot of a post containing hate speech and the suspect's social media account.
"The suspect in this hate speech has the initials FR, a housewife," he said
The Ditreskrimsus Polda North Sulawesi has also coordinated with investigators from the East Kalimantan Police, where for one alleged perpetrator of another hate speech with the initials MK, it has been secured and is currently being handled by the East Kalimantan Police.
"All suspects, both suspects of abuse and hate speech, have now been detained at the North Sulawesi Police Detention Center. Except for the MK suspect, because it is handled at the East Kalimantan Regional Police," he said.
"For the suspect in hate speech, he is subject to Article 45 a paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 28 paragraph (2) of the Republic of Indonesia Law number 19 of 2017 concerning amendments to Law of the Republic of Indonesia number 11 of 2008 concerning Information and Electronic Transactions with a maximum threat of six years in prison and a maximum fine of one billion rupiah," he said.
