Jokowi Criticizes The Infrastructure Work Of The Ministry Of PUPR, This Is What He Said
JAKARTA - Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) criticized the work carried out by infrastructure personnel, in this case the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR).
Jokowi assessed that the Ministry of PUPR in working on infrastructure projects is sometimes less comprehensive. This means that there are several aspects that are left behind to work on.
"I gave an example of building a road, not just taking care of the road, but it should be a package, road construction, drainage, sidewalks and landscapes," Jokowi said in his remarks at the Gathering with Infrastructure Activists at the State Palace which was monitored online, Monday, December 4.
Later, if it is not carried out comprehensively, it can make the cost of development more expensive. Such as the social costs paid when the sidewalk is filled by street vendors.
"Because if it's just a walk, what will happen later, the people will definitely be on the side of the road, 'not for' selling first, well, five feet are already on the side of the road. If you want to make sidewalks, drainage, there must be social costs again," said Jokowi.
In addition, Jokowi also criticized the construction of roads in the Labuan Bajo area. He assessed that roads and sidewalks in the area were already good, but there were still elements of cement that could be seen.

Even though he had given criticism, Jokowi still gave praise to the Ministry of PUPR. This is because PUPR is a ministry that quickly realizes the budget rather than other ministries.
"The acceleration at the Ministry of PUPR (to realize the budget) is also very good. I see, the Ministry of PUPR always precedes compared to other ministries, always ahead of that which is good," he said.
