Mukomuko Fisheries Service Allows Fishermen To Catch Tiger Pukat Ships
JAKARTA - The Fisheries Service of Mukomuko Regency, Bengkulu Province, has given authority to traditional fishermen in Mukomuko City District to catch trawling trawlers that violate fishing rules.
This step was taken as an action against violations committed by a number of fishermen using trawlers or tigers in local waters.
"If there are sanctions, if there are violations, please arrest them," said Warsiman, Head of Capture Fisheries Division of the Mukomuko District Fisheries Service, in Mukomuko, Saturday, quoted by Antara.
He said the decision was the result of a meeting between modern fishermen and traditional fishermen who discussed the issue of regional fishing disputes and the use of fishing gear that was in accordance with the agreement that had been made.
According to Warsiman, traditional and modern fishermen have agreed to comply with the boundaries of their respective fishing areas in the marine waters of this area. This agreement includes fines and jointly approved enforcement of regulations.
In 2013 and 2017, it was agreed that the fishing area limit between modern fishermen in Teramang Jaya District and traditional fishermen in the Mukomuko City District would be agreed.
"This latest meeting aims to reaffirm the agreement, in order to avoid a prolonged conflict between the two fishing groups," said Warsiman.
He emphasized the importance of this meeting to maintain order and cooperation between fishermen in the Mukomuko area. With this agreement, it is hoped that it can prevent conflicts and maintain the sustainability of fish resources in local waters.
