Mahfud MD Claims To Get Kiai-Santri Mataraman Support

JAKARTA - Prospective Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia Mahfud MD claims to receive support from kiai and students from Trenggalek, Kediri, Blitar, Madiun, Tulungagung, Madiun, Ngawi, Pacitan and Nganjuk who are members of the Kiai Santri with Mahfud (KSBM) Mataraman.

A written statement from the Media Center of the Ganjar-Mahfud National Winning Team, in Jakarta, Saturday, stated that the declaration of the Mataraman KSBM to support Mahfud MD was carried out while conveying his aspirations at the Sulaiman Trenggalek Islamic Boarding School, East Java.

According to one of the representatives of the Islamic boarding school, Ahmad Arda Billy, they are committed to fully supporting the Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD pair in the 2024 Presidential Election.

"This is because Mahfud MD is also part of the santri, so we as students must also participate together to make this pair number 3 a success," said Ahmad Arda Billy when delivering his aspirations, quoted by Antara.

Ahmad hopes that the support given will be an encouragement to other people to support Ganjar-Mahfud so that he can calm down the upcoming presidential election.

"Hopefully what the aspirations of the students and the sarongs can be represented by the whereabouts of Mr. Mahfud who will become vice president in 2024," he said.

The kiai and students promised that after this support, they would consolidate to win Ganjar-Mahfud together.

Responding to the support, Mahfud said, support and declaration were natural in the election contestation.

However, he advised the public to continue to protect the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.

"Because the election season is the declaration okay. Choose according to the whispers of conscience and his belief about what is good for Indonesia," said Mahfud.

Mahfud emphasized that even in the midst of the hustle and bustle of general elections, his party hopes that Islamic boarding schools will be at the forefront of maintaining harmony and peace in the community.

"I hope that with this all kyai and santri will continue to work together to bring enthusiasm to pesantren that are full of honesty and harmony and build society," he said.
