Anies Grateful To Pair With Cak Imin: Nothing To Hide, Long Track Record
JAKARTA - Presidential candidate (candidate) number one, Anies Baswedan, admitted that he was grateful to be paired with Muhaimin Iskandar or Cak Imin in the 2024 presidential election. He said his experience made him need not be hidden.
This was conveyed in response to the presidential and vice presidential debate format in the 2024 presidential election. The General Election Commission (KPU) decided that the candidate pairs would attend together and there would be no special debate for the vice presidential candidate as in the 2019 election.
"I am grateful that the vice presidential candidate who is paired with me has extraordinary competence. Have extraordinary experience," Anies told reporters at the Grand Sahid Jaya Hotel, Saturday, December 2, 2023.
"There is nothing to hide from Gus Imin. So, Gus Imin has a track record in long politics, the progress of activists from a young age, having been the youngest leader of the DPR, having been in the cabinet of young people," he continued.
Anies felt that with such a track record, Cak Imin actually had to find space to explain his thoughts.
"So, I am of the view that there needs to be a forum for presidential candidates whose people can compare. Then there needs to be a forum for vice presidential candidates so that the people also compare," he said.
After all, the implementation of this debate is considered by Anies, as a step to respect the Indonesian people who will be involved in the democratic party.

The General Elections Commission (KPU) has changed the debate format for the presidential-vice presidential candidate (candidate-vice presidential candidate) for the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres). The presidential-vice presidential candidate pair will attend every joint debate session.
The chairman of the KPU, Hasyim Asy'ari, said the policy was made so that voters could see the cooperation between the presidential and vice presidential candidates in the 2024 presidential election.
"So that the public will be more confident in the teamwork between the presidential and vice presidential candidates in their appearance in the debate," said Hasyim when confirmed, Friday, December 1, 2023.
This format is different from the 2019 presidential election. At that time, the vice presidential candidate had the opportunity to two times explain his vision and mission when accompanying his presidential candidate when elected.
