Meeting Four Eyes With President MBZ, Jokowi Discusses Increasing RI-UAE Cooperation
JAKARTA - Indonesian President Joko Widodo met with the President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan (MBZ) in Dubai, to discuss increasing cooperation between the two countries.
Starting the bilateral meeting, President Jokowi expressed his appreciation to President MBZ for holding a conference of parties within the framework of UN cooperation for climate change (COP28) under the UAE presidency.
"Congratulations on the implementation of COP28. Indonesia is ready to support the breakthrough initiated by the UAE presidency to overcome climate change, especially for developing countries," Jokowi said quoting Antara.
During the meeting, the two leaders also discussed increasing cooperation in various fields, one of which was oil and gas which was Indonesia's largest import from the UAE.
"Indonesia hopes that the UAE can provide more competitive oil prices for Indonesia," said President Jokowi.
President Jokowi and President MBZ also discussed strategic investments between Indonesia and the UAE.
Jokowi expressed his appreciation for the support of the UAE in the 145 MW PLTS project in Cirata, West Java.
The President of the Republic of Indonesia hopes for similar support to realize a number of other strategic projects in the country.
In addition, President Jokowi and President MBZ also discussed cooperation in meteorology and geophysics. Indonesia expects UAE support to improve the early warning system (early warning system) technology in anticipation of earthquakes and tsunamis.

Regarding cooperation in the employment sector, President Jokowi expressed his commitment to sending professionals, educated and trained personnel to the UAE.
Therefore, the President of the Republic of Indonesia requested that the UAE government guarantee protection for Indonesian migrant workers.
"The access of Indonesian migrant workers is opened more widely, especially in the financial sector, renewable energy, and the defense industry," said President Jokowi.
