State Secretariat Receives KPK Letter Related To Eddy Hiariej As Suspect, Will Be Continued To Jokowi

JAKARTA - The Ministry of State Secretariat (Setneg) has received a notification letter for the determination of the suspect on behalf of Deputy Minister of Law and Human Rights (Wamenkumham) Edward Omar Sharif Hiariej alias Eddy Hiariej.

"Today, at 14.48 WIB, the Ministry of State Secretariat has received a notification letter for the determination of the suspect Wamenkumham, Mr. Edward Omar Sharif Hiariej," said Presidential Special Staff Coordinator Ari Dwipayana in a short message Friday, December 1, which was confiscated by Antara.

Ari conveyed that the letter would then be submitted to President Joko Widodo.

"Currently, the President is in Dubai to attend the World Climate Action Summit COP 28. The plan is for the President to return to his homeland on Sunday, December 3, 2023," he said.

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigators have prevented the Deputy Minister of Law and Human Rights Edward Omar Sharif Hiariej alias Eddy Hiariej for investigation purposes.

"KPK on Wednesday (November 29) submitted a letter to the Directorate General of Immigration to prevent four people from traveling abroad, including the Deputy Minister of Law and Human Rights, lawyers, and the private sector," said Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri at the KPK's Red and White House, South Jakarta, Thursday 30 November.

Ali explained that the prevention not to travel abroad was valid for six months from November 29, 2023.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Law and Human Rights Yasonna Laoly previously stated that he had submitted the matter of the resignation of Deputy Minister of Law and Human Rights Edward Omar Sharif Hiariej (Eddy Hiariej) to President Joko Widodo.

"It's up to the President," said Yasonna when asked about whether or not Wamenkumham Eddy Hiariej should resign from his position because he had been named a suspect by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on suspicion of bribery and gratification.
