Mike Dean, The Referee 'Giver' United's 9-0 Win Over Soton Returns To Duty After Being Killed
JAKARTA - Mike Dean, the referee who led the match when Manchester United won 9-0 against Southampton, is back in charge.
Previously, he and his family received death threats for his decision to issue a controversial red card in that match.
Dean officially took to the pitch again this Saturday to take charge of Burnley's game against West Bromwich Albion at Turf Moor.
The referee received death threats after he handed Southampton defender Jan Bednarek a red card in their 0-9 defeat against United.
Dean also gave a red card to Ham United midfielder Tomas Soucek when the team was held to a draw 0-0 by Fulham.
Reuters reported, reported by Antara, Wednesday, February 17, that the two red card decisions were overturned by the appeal process.
The 52-year-old referee has asked to temporarily not be involved in the Premier League fixtures.
But he took charge of the FA Cup fifth round tie between Leicester City and Brighton & Hove Albion on Wednesday last week.
