Police Arrest Residents Of Constructed Weapons In Aceh
BANDA ACEH - The police arrested a suspected maker of homemade weapons in Panton Makmur Village, Krueng Sabee District, local district.
Aceh Jaya Police Chief AKBP Harlan Amir said that the disclosure of the case began when the local police unit received a report regarding the processing of gold using activated carbon in the area.
Furthermore, the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Aceh Jaya Police, AKP Miftahuda Dizha Fezuon, and the team immediately studied the report by visiting the scene of the case in Kuala Bate Tutong Hamlet, Panton Makmur Village, Krueng Sabee District.
"At the location, the Criminal investigator team found one homemade rifle, one homemade silencer, one homemade magazine, one long-barreled magazine that had been cut, two bullets, two knives, and several other pieces of evidence", said AKBP Harlan, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, 16 February.
From the findings, the police secured a suspect with the initials RF (25), a local resident. The suspect and evidence were immediately brought to the Police Headquarters for investigation.
According to the Police Chief, the results of the provisional investigation indicated that the suspect had used the weapon for hunting. He said the suspect learned how to make homemade weapons from sites on the internet.
"The suspect used the weapon for hunting, and after an initial examination, the suspect learned to assemble the weapon from the internet, and the suspect did indeed open a workshop in the area", said AKBP Harlan.
The police are still continuing to deepen the case, including possession of ammunition, which is planned to be sent to the Medan Branch Police Forensic Laboratory Center for ballistic testing.
The suspect is charged under the Indonesian Emergency Law Number 12 of 1951 with a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.
