South Sulawesi Governor Inaugurates Anging Mammiri Princess Dormitory In Yogyakarta
YOGYAKARTA - Governor of South Sulawesi (Sulsel) Nurdin Abdullah, inaugurated the new building of the South Sulawesi Princess Dormitory "Anging Mammiri" in Yogyakarta.
Previously, the laying of the first stone for the girls' dormitory located on Jalan Kota Baru was carried out by Nurdin on September 2, 2020. This female dormitory spent a budget of Rp.4.4 billion from the South Sulawesi Province APBD. This female dormitory building has 18 rooms with two floors.
Nurdin said that there are quite a lot of people and students from South Sulawesi in Yogyakarta. The presence of dormitories is very important because the Provincial Government continues to encourage the preparation of dormitories. Apart from that, the people of South Sulawesi are migrants, including young people and their students.
"The interest of our children from South Sulawesi to study in Jogjakarta at various universities including at UGM is very high," said Nurdin Abdullah as quoted from the South Sulawesi Provincial Government's PR statement, Tuesday, February 16.
In the past, Nurdin had a roof that leaked and the wood was rotten. Because of that, Nurdin rebuilt the girls' dormitory building.
"Of course I hope, hopefully with the presence of this dormitory it can motivate our children to be more active in studying. So that later on, they will return to South Sulawesi to serve," he hoped.
In addition, Nurdin requested this new building to be well cared for, so that it can continue to be used by other South Sulawesi students who are going to this Student City.
Nurdin explained that apart from Yogyakarta, other dormitories are in Bandung, Jakarta, Bogor and Semarang.
"Insyaallah in Semarang (it will be repaired), in Bandung, then in Bogor it has been completed, there is another one there, Jakarta. Maybe four years from now. It's only Rp. 4 billion, not too expensive. It's something like that, it's already furnished with furniture. And this hostel (Angging Mammiri) is very strategically located close to everywhere, "he said.
In Yogyakarta, the South Sulawesi Provincial Government has five provincial dormitories, including Mattoanging Dormitory, Anging Mammiri Girls Dormitory, Latimojong Dormitory, Bawakaraeng Dormitory and Sawerigading Dormitory.
Since 2018 the South Sulawesi Provincial Government has had 11 student dormitories on the island of Java. It is hoped that the presence of the dormitory will make students even more active, trigger and spur their enthusiasm for learning.
