Double Sanctions For Refusing COVID-19 Vaccination In DKI: Not Provided By Social Assistance, Also Fines
JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta, Ahmad Riza Patria, said that there are double sanctions for people who refuse the COVID-19 vaccination in DKI. They can lose their right to social assistance, as well as be subject to fines.
President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) issued Presidential Decree No. 14 of 2021. In Article 13A paragraph (4), people who have been designated as vaccine recipients but did not participate in vaccination will postpone their social assistance.
"In central government regulations, (people who refuse COVID-19 vaccination) are not given social assistance," said Riza at the City Hall of DKI, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, February 16.
In addition, DKI has Regional Regulation Number 2 of 2020 regarding the response to COVID-19. Article 30 states that every person who deliberately refuses to receive treatment and / or vaccination for COVID-19, will be punished with a maximum fine of IDR 5,000,000.
"If you refuse a vaccine in Jakarta, you have a first, you will be fined Rp. 5 million. We enforce the rules. The provisions related to the regional regulation that refuses to be vaccinated, the rules are clearly fined," said Riza.
That way, every citizen who gets a COVID-19 vaccination quota in the Capital City will receive two sanctions at once.
"It can be asked twice. The regulation of the central government is not given social assistance, DKI is fined. So, already fined, social assistance is not given," he said.
In the national COVID-19 vaccination program, the government is targeting 181.5 vaccine targets. They are people aged 18 years and over. Vaccine recipients receive twice the injection dose.
In the first stage, the vaccine is intended for 1.5 health workers. As of today, health workers who have received the first dose of vaccination are 73.47 percent and the second dose is 29.85 percent.
Then, in the second stage, COVID-19 vaccination is for the elderly and public service workers. The target is 21.5 million elderly and 16.9 million public workers. This program lasts until May.
They are market traders, educators, religious leaders and counselors, representatives of the people, officials, government, civil servants, TNI-Polri, tourism officers, public services, public transportation workers, athletes, and media workers.
Furthermore, vaccination will be carried out for 63.9 million vulnerable people or people living in areas with high risk of infection. Then, other communities as many as 77.7 million people. This program will be carried out from April 2021 to March 2022.
