Entrepreneurs Fully Support The Downstream Regulation On Domestic Nickel Trading

JAKARTA - The General Secretary of the Indonesian Nickel Miners Association (APNI) Meidy Katrin Lengkey admits that he supports the government's efforts to downstream the regulation of the domestic nickel trade system. According to him, all APNI members fully support this policy.

"APNI's appreciation to the government, in this case the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, the Directorate General of Mineral and Coal (Menerba) for policies related to the domestic nickel trade system," Meidy said in a statement received by VOI, Wednesday, March 3.

Indonesian nickel entrepreneurs, said Meidy, fully support government policies. According to him, the domestic nickel trade system is very important for entrepreneurs.

The regulation on the domestic nickel trade system will be published at the end of March 2020. It is hoped that the regulation will come into effect on April 1, 2020.

APNI, continued Meidy, will support all of the regulations. Furthermore, APNI will assist the government in carrying out good mining practices.

"APNI ensures that it will carry out good mining practices in mines and take firm action against illegal mining actors," said Meidy.

APNI will also become the eyes of the government in carrying out good mining in accordance with the prevailing rules and regulations in Indonesia. In addition, APNI will fully support the downstreaming.

APNI also appreciates the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs for helping accommodate smelters to accept regulations on the domestic nickel trade system.
