Google Finally Provides Service Updates For iOS Users
JAKARTA - Google is updating its application for iOS devices. Especially the YouTube service which has experienced some bug issues, since its last update in December last year.
Speculation is circulating that Google is not updating the application on iOS due to Apple's new privacy rules. Although Google has dismissed this accusation by giving out the latest update contains bug fixes for iOS devices.
Quoted from The Verge, Google said they had put a privacy label on their application when releasing updates for applications such as Gmail, Docs, Search, Photos, and so on.
"When the Google application on iOS is updated with new features or bug fixes, you will see an update on our application page which is equipped with the new App Privacy Details", wrote Google.
This label represents the maximum data category that the application will collect when the user uses each of the features and services available in the application.
Google said that the data that users provide to google products will be used to provide useful services to users, and users can always control their privacy settings by visiting their Google Account or directly accessing Google products they use on iOS.
As is known, Apple requires application developers to provide a privacy label on their applications. This new rule was implemented on December 14, 2020, before Google had the chance to update their application for iOS devices.
In these rules, Apple also requires application developers to disclose how much user data is collected, and how they manage that data.
A number of services and applications made by Google such as Stadia, Authenticator, Translate, and Classroom are currently required to receive an update on iOS. But for the main application, Google has not rolled out an update for the iOS version of the Gmail, Search, Docs, and Photos applications.
In fact, a number of iOS users have received a notification saying their application is out of date because it didn't get an update in the last two months. This message has now been deleted by Google, but they still haven't provided an update to the application.
So far, Google has not been seen rolling out a comprehensive service update. The latest indication says that if Google is preparing the final version of Android 12 which will be released at the end of 2021.
Information circulating states that a preview version or of Google's latest operating system will be announced at the end of February. So you can say Google will roll out a comprehensive update when Android 12 is officially released.
