PT Waskita Karya (Persero) Tbk stated that the construction of the Temef Dam for package four in South Central Timor Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) has reached 85.21 percent.

"Based on the latest report as of November 24, the progress of dam construction has reached 85.21 percent," said Waskita Karya's Head of Engineering, Agasi Yudho, quoting Antara.

This was conveyed in connection with the development of the Temef Dam in South Central Timor Regency.

The Temef Dam is a dam built by the central government to address drought problems in the region. Temef is also one of seven dams targeted by President Joko Widodo in NTT.

He said the construction was faster than the set target. At first, his party targeted the progress to reach 76.56 percent.

"But it's faster than expected," he said.

Furthermore, Waskita's ongoing work package in Package four is a facility building, clearing an inundation area for hydromechanical work, main dam work and construction work for collection buildings.

Previously, Waskita Karya itself had completed package 1 for the construction of the dam. Then Package four is a continuation of package I.

Regarding the obstacles faced during the work on package four related to the relocation of graves and areas of former forest areas that cannot be worked on. Because it is still in the process of being released.

In addition, extreme heat weather is also an obstacle for workers who work in the dam. So the rest time is accelerated.

"But we have maximum overtime at night to work," he said.

He targets completion in early 2024.

The Temef Dam has a length of 550 meters with a height of 55 meters and occupies an area of 45 hectares to be able to accommodate water up to 45 million cubic meters. The construction of the Temef Dam is estimated to cost IDR 1.4 trillion
