Detecting People Around Depok Residents Who Are Affected By COVID-19

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) conducts an examination of people around the two Depok residents who have contracted the corona virus or COVID-19.

Secretary of the Directorate General of PDP of the Ministry of Health, Achmad Yurianto, said this was done after the Ministry of Health conducted an examination of the nuclear family of one house with two people.

"Already doing tracing contact. Two people close to the same house, namely his brother and his assistant, the results are negative," said Yuri at the Ministry of Health Office, Jalan Rasuna Said, South Jakarta, Tuesday, March 3.

The spokesperson for handling COVID-19 said this tracing had also been carried out on those who took part in the dance party which was the beginning of the transmission of the virus. The dance party is known to have taken place in the Jakarta area, on February 14.

According to him, several people who took part in the dance had specimens taken to determine their condition and some of the results were negative, while the rest were unknown considering the analysis process was still ongoing.

Subsequently, the people who participated in this dance will be assigned to the category of people under monitoring. Their location, according to Yuri, is still in Jakarta.

People under monitoring (ODP) are those who are specifically monitored by the Ministry of Health after being in a place where people have contracted COVID-19. They cannot be assumed to be infected without symptoms or further tests.

Returning to the matter of tracing contact, Yuri admitted that there were difficulties in doing this. Given that those who took part in the dance were not only Indonesian citizens but also citizens from other countries. Meanwhile, the infected Japanese citizen is currently being treated in a hospital in Malaysia.

When confirmed where the Japanese had gone while in Indonesia, Yuri said he did not go anywhere after the event.

"The Japanese citizens were only there, in parties. From Malaysia to here, they kept coming back again. Nothing (stopped at other places), directly to the airport," he said.

Previously reported, two Indonesian citizens were declared infected with the COVID-19 virus after making contact with a Japanese national. This finding is the first case in Indonesian territory, where the government has so far admitted that there has been no spread of the virus.

These two people have a family relationship as mother and child. After being tested positive for COVID-19, both of them are now being treated at RSPI Sulianti Saroso, Jakarta to be isolated according to existing regulations.
