Landslide Nganjuk, 10 People Still In Search

JAKARTA - The joint team is still searching for 10 residents buried in landslides in Ngetos Village, Ngetos District, Nganjuk Regency, East Java.

This incident occurred, one of which was triggered by moderate to high rain intensity, on Sunday, February 14, at 18.30 WIB.

Data from the Operational Control Center of the BPBD of Nganjuk Regency as of Monday, February 15 at 8:00 p.m. WIB, reported that 9 residents had been found dead. Meanwhile, the total number of victims who were injured was 16 residents.

"Those who are injured have received medical treatment from the puskesmas," said Head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information and Communication Center Raditya Jati, Tuesday, February 16.

He detailed, from this incident, as many as 54 families or 175 people were affected. Meanwhile 156 people fled to the house of the village head and close relatives. While the damage to buildings, as many as 8 housing units were severely damaged.

In supporting the search for missing victims, the local Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) deployed 5 heavy equipment. Based on the evaluation results, the joint team will utilize heavy equipment which is divided into three search sectors. BPBD Nganjuk Regency together with related elements also operates a public kitchen and services at the evacuation posts.

Emergency handling pays attention to the safety of responders, especially volunteers. The authorities carry out checks at the entrance to the affected area. One of them is to avoid the potential impact of subsequent landslides and the application of health protocols in emergency handling. The conditions in the field were observed with light rain.

The elements involved in handling the emergency include the local BPBD, BPBD East Java Province, TNI, Polri, SAR Trenggalek, the Health Office, PUPR and Satpol PP Nganjuk Regency, forkopincam, PMI, Tagana, volunteers and community members.
