The Latest Generation Of Subaru Forester Is Reported To Have A Hybrid Powertrain From Toyota

JAKARTA - For the United States market, Forester has been one of the best-selling Subaru vehicles for nearly 30 years, with more than 2.6 million vehicles sold in the US alone.

At the current Los Angeles Auto Show 2023 exhibition, Subaru Amerika, Inc launched the All New Forester 2025. This sixth-generation SUV offers the most advanced features, modern designs, and increased driving comfort in its history.

This latest Forester will only be offered in the United States, with a 2.5 liter natural-assisted flat-four gasoline engine that produces 180 hp and 241 Nm torque, combined with CVT and AWD.

However, there is news circulating that the next generation of Subaru Forester will get a hybrid powertrain by 2025, with batteries and components coming from Toyota.

Quoted from the CarBuzz page, Monday, November 20, Subaru will introduce a hybrid version of this compact crossover a year after the arrival of the next generation. However, not much information was obtained.

"We haven't announced anything about specifications or performance, but it will happen (using Toyota components) combined with a boxer," said America's COO Subaru, Jeff Walters.

As Toyota knows, one of the largest shareholders of Subaru, the two manufacturers have been working together for some time, for example, projects together in the past were duo 86 and BRZ, hybrid plug-in Crosstrack Hybrid and most recently, BRZ and GR86 second generation, as well as pairs bZ4X and Solterra.

"There's a lot of work to be done to get to this, but we already have plug-in Crosstrek hybrids which are battery systems sourced from Toyota," Walters added.

The presence of the Subaru hybrid engine is still a secret, but Walters explains that many new vehicles will be born from cooperation with Toyota, until 2028.

Meanwhile, in Indonesia itself is currently Subaru Forester when it is sold at a price of Rp659 million.
