Case Of Extortion Fast Track Tourists, 4 Immigration Officers At Ngurah Rai Airport Freed

Four immigration officers at Bali's I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport were released from their duties in the case of extortion in fast track services for tourists. The four of them are witnesses in handling cases at the Bali High Prosecutor's Office.

"Four other people have their status as witnesses and have now been relieved of their duties from the immigration examination site for examination at the Immigration Office," said Head of the Immigration Office Class I Special for TPI Ngurah Rai, Bali, Suhendra, Monday, November 20.

Immigration examined the four officers to confirm the alleged violation.

"The inspection process is still ongoing, in principle we follow all ongoing legal processes and internally we will also impose sanctions on the officers involved," he said.

"For further sanctions, we will follow the ongoing legal process up to inkrah. Currently, the person concerned has been relieved of his duties. For the next mechanism, he will follow PP 94 of 2021 regarding civil servant discipline," he explained.

Suhendra apologized for the extortion case at Ngurah Rai Airport.

"As the Head of the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office, I apologize to the public for this incident. And we are fully committed to taking comprehensive and sustainable steps to improve in the future in order to provide the best service to the community," he said.

The Bali Attorney General's Office has named a suspect in the Ngurah Rai Immigration official in the alleged illegal levies (extortion) to foreign nationals (WNA) with fast track services at the Bali I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport terminal.

The official who was named a suspect with the initials HS, Head of the Examination Section I of the Special Class I Immigration Office of TPI Ngurah Rai, Bali.

Head of the Legal Information Section (Kasi Penkum) of the Bali Prosecutor's Office, Putu Agus Eka Sabana Putra, said that based on the results of the investigation carried out by the special criminal investigation team of the Bali Attorney General's Office, two pieces of evidence were obtained in the form of witness statements, letter evidence and evidence as well as evidence of clues.

"That HS Head of the Investigation Section I of the Special Class I Immigration Office of TPI Ngurah Rai was named a suspect based on the suspect determination letter Number: 1421/N.1.5/Fd.2/11/2023 dated November 15, 2023," said Agus Eka, Wednesday, November 15.
