Bribery of Jabodetabek Social Assistance , KPK Extends Detention Of Former Ministry Of Social Affairs MJS Official

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) extended the detention period of the former Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos) Commitment Making Officer (Kemensos), Matheus Joko Santoso (MJS).

The detention extension will be carried out for the next 30 days or until March 16. The suspect MJS was detained at the KPK branch detention center.

"Based on the determination of the Head of the Central Jakarta District Court, investigators have extended the detention period of the suspect MJS (Matheus Joko Santoso) for the next 30 days, starting from February 15 to March 16, 2021", said KPK spokesman for the field of prosecution, Ali Fikri in a written statement. to reporters on Monday, February 15th.

Matheus' detention was extended because investigators still need time to complete the case file for the COVID-19 social assistance procurement (Bansos) bribery case in the Jabodetabek area.

"KPK investigators will still complete this case file by summoning and examining a number of witnesses", he said.

It is known that the KPK previously extended the detention period of former Social Minister Juliari Peter Batubara and former Social Affairs Ministry PPK Adi Wahyono. Their detention period is extended for 30 days from February 3, 2021.

Previously reported, in this case, the KPK named a number of suspects in connection with the alleged corruption case of social assistance (Bansos) food packages for the handling of COVID-19 in the Jabodetabek area including the non-active Social Minister Juliari Batubara.

Apart from Juliari, the KPK also named four other suspects, namely the Commitment Making Officer at the Ministry of Social Affairs (PPK) MJS, and AW as recipients of bribes and AIM and HS as the givers of bribes.
