Supported By Many Artists, Deddy Corbuizer's Criticism Was Immediately Responded By KPI

JAKARTA - Deddy Corbuzier's upload on Instagram, who is confused about the Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPI) rules regarding the use of masks on television shows, has received a lot of support from artists. Andre Taulani, Sule, Gilang Dirga, Ivan Gunawan, Anji, Rico Low, Ari Lasso, and other artists provided support comments to Deddy. He highlighted the question of talk shows that were asked to continue wearing masks, while soap opera players were not wearing masks.

"I'm confused about the rules of the KPI, the Indonesian Broadcasting Commission. I have a talk show, I sit far away, don't stand, don't greet, have followed health protocols, PCR, everything, continue to wear a mask. I have never given a 1-hour talk show wearing a mask. Friends may not dare to talk too, but never mind, let's just say that it helps. But soap operas can not wear masks. Great", said Deddy as in uploading his video on Instagram account @mastercorbuzier, quoted Monday, February 15.

"Is it possible that you think their health protocol is better than ours, I don't know. Or the protocol is more expensive, I also don't know", he added.

Deddy Corbuzier is worried that the scenes in soap operas that do not wear masks will be imitated by the public. "But if their protocols are much better than ours and you check them every day, doesn't the film or soap opera depict someone's life, people's lives in Indonesia too, so people will see, oh it turns out that if you're on the road, going out, that's okay not wear a mask. You can see, describe it", he said.

Deddy Corbuzier expressed his complaint about the difficulty of hosting a talk show if he constantly had to use masks. "Stuffy, if you know, put on a talk show for more than 1 hour, 2 hours if tapping, you have to wear a mask, that's a pack. Even though we have implemented the protocol, if we don't run it, there is a distance, 2 meters", said Deddy.

After being tagged by Deddy Corbuizer, Chairman of the Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPI), Agung Suprio gave a statement through a media release via @KPIpusat. KPI and the Covid-19 Task Force (Satgas) recognize the very vital position of broadcasting institutions as a medium of prevention. First, because of the coverage of television and radio broadcasts that almost all parts of Indonesia. Second, because of public figures who become performers on television and radio shows. The Covid-19 Task Force and KPI are well aware of the popularity and strength of celebrities in their followers. So it is from them that the message of the protocol is expected to be conveyed, as well as to set an example for the public for their obedience to the health protocol.

KPI also realizes that there are difficulties in implementing this policy. Therefore, KPI held a coordination meeting between KPI, the Covid-19 Task Force, and broadcasting institutions, enforcement of health protocols also aims to provide protection for broadcasting industry players.

"Including the impression of anomaly towards the policy in other programs", said Agung. As an explanation for Deddy Corbuizer's criticism, KPI said it had asked for adjustments to be made in the making of scenes for a soap opera production.
