Indonesian Archery Legend Kusuma Wardani Dies, Central KONI Chairman Expresses Condolences
JAKARTA - The Indonesian nation, especially the sports community, has been saddened by the death of one of the Indonesian archery legends, Kusuma Wardani. The silver medalist at the 1988 Seoul Olympics died on November 12, 2023 due to blockage of blood vessels.
Three Indonesian Srikandi, Kusuma Wardani, Nurfitriyana Saiman, and Lilies Handayani won Archery silver at the 1988 Olympics in Seoul, South Korea. It was Indonesia's first medal in the Olympics since participating in the 1952 Olympics in Helsinki, Finland.
For the death of Kusuma Wardani, the General Chairperson (Ketum) of the Central Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) Lt. Gen. TNI Retired Marciano Norman expressed his deep condolences.
"As the General Chair of the Central KONI and representing the Indonesian sports community, I express my condolences for the death of Mrs. Kusuma Wardani," said the Head of the Central KONI.
