Viral Photo Of Muslim Women Praying In Church Kudus Regency, Central Java

JAKARTA - Head of Jati Sub-District, Kudus Regency, Central Java (Central Java) Andreas Wahyu spoke up after circulating a photo of a Muslim woman praying against the background of a cross beside her.

According to him, the photo was taken at the Indonesian Muria Christian Church (GKMI). This location is a refugee camp for residents of Tanjung Karang Village, Jati District, Central Java.

Such scenes are common because the life of tolerance in his village has been built for a long time.

"Religious tolerance in the local village is quite good. There have been many activities carried out together by various religious communities. Of course, it is commonplace for local villagers to see such a scene", Andreas explained as quoted by Antara, Sunday, February 14.

GKMI Tanjung Karang has been one of the evacuation posts in Tanjung Karang Village since January 31, 2021.

Andreas added that the residents of Tanjung Karang Village include Javanese, Batak, and of Chinese descent, and they usually work together to carry out various activities in the village.

Apart from GKMI, the locations for the evacuation of flood victims in Tanjung Karang Village are also in the village hall and the temple hall.

Residents who fled at the Tanjung Karang Village Hall as of Sunday, February 14th, have returned home because the inundation in their settlement has receded.

"Flood victims who are still surviving at GKMI Tanjung Karang and the Tanjung Karang Temple hall are 48 people and 36 people, respectively", Andreas explained.
