Vice President Ma'ruf Amin Gives His Gratitude To The Confucians For Celebrating The Chinese New Year Virtually
JAKARTA - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin appreciated this year's Chinese New Year celebration which was held virtually. This is an effort to reduce the growth rate of COVID-19 in the country.
"This is in line with the government's efforts to accelerate the handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as for the recovery of the national economy, the key is a discipline in implementing health protocols", said Vice President Ma'ruf as quoted by Antara, Sunday, February 14.
Vice President Ma'ruf also thanked the Confucian community for celebrating Chinese New Year nationally in a large prayer and salvation prayer event, entitled 'Prayers for Indonesia.'
The Chinese New Year, continued Vice President Ma'ruf, is expected to be a momentum to revitalize the commitment to unity and integrity of all religious communities in Indonesia.
The Vice President also asked all religious-based social organizations (mass organizations), including the Indonesian Confucian Council of Religions (Matakin), to continue to play an active role in maintaining inter-religious harmony in Indonesia.
"I also hope that all mass organizations, especially those based on religion, including Matakin, will continue to play a role and contribute in efforts to maintain harmony among religious believers, build national unity and integrity", he said.
As a religious mass organization that contains business and professional actors, the Vice President also hopes that Matakin can provide support to the Government, especially in efforts to restore the national economy affected by COVID-19.
He hopes that the support of Matakin and all Confucian communities will have a meaningful impact on accelerating the national economic recovery due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
