Number Of Indonesian Citizens In Fukushima Japan Reaches 540 People, Embassy Of The Republic Of Indonesia Will Continue To Communicate
JAKARTA - The Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) in Tokyo reported that there were no Indonesian citizens (WNI) who were victims of the earthquake which was centered below sea level near the Fukushima area, Japan.
"The Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo has reached the citizens and so far, there have been no reports of Indonesian citizens becoming victims", said the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo in a statement quoted by Antara, Sunday, February 14.
The Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo said that based on Japanese immigration data as of June 2020, the number of Indonesian citizens in Japan was recorded at 66.084 people. While in the areas most affected by the earthquake, there were around 1.500 Indonesian citizens, with details in Fukushima 540 people and in Miyagi 984 people.
The Indonesian Embassy stated that "we will continue to communicate with the community" to monitor the progress of this incident, as well as provide phone services at +81 80 3506 8612 and +81 80 4940 7419.
An earthquake measuring magnitude 7.3 rocked the northeastern region of Japan on Saturday, February 13 at around 23:08 local time.
The location of this earthquake is the same as the big earthquake in 2011 which resulted in a tsunami and a nuclear power plant (PLTN) accident in Fukushima.
"The Japanese government has conducted an inspection of the Fukushima Nuclear Reactor, and so far there have been no reports of damage", said the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo.
According to a Reuters report, citing Japan's national television NHK on Sunday morning, at least 104 people were injured in this incident, but there were no reports of any deaths.
