Is There A State-Owned Enterprises Commissioner Resigning Because He Is A Presidential Candidate Campaign Team, Influences Company Performance?
JAKARTA - A number of names chose to resign from the position of Commissioner in State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) because they were included in the campaign team for Presidential Candidates (Capres) who will compete in the 2024 presidential election.
Most recently, Arief Rosyid. He previously served as Commissioner of PT Bank Syariah Indonesia Tbk (BSI). Arief resigned because he was appointed as Chairman of the Commander of Fanta (Young Voter) Prabowo-Gibran based on the announcement made by TKN Prabowo-Gibran.
Then, Budiman Sudjatmiko also stated that he resigned from the position of m Independent Commissioner of PT Perkebunan Nusantara V or PTPN V. The postponement was carried out after he joined the National Campaign Team (TKN) of the Advanced Indonesia Coalition (KIM) carrying Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka at Budiman Sudjatmiko for the 2024 presidential election.
Before Arief and Budiman, Rosan Roeslani also resigned from his position as Deputy President Commissioner of PT Pertamina. In fact, Rosan also resigned from the position of Deputy Minister of BUMN which he had only served for three months. Rosan resigned because he was appointed as Chairman of the Prabowo-Gibran National Campaign Team (TKN).
Then, will the resignation of a number of names from the commissioner position affect the performance of SOEs?
SOE Minister Erick Thohir emphasized that the departure of a number of Commissioners at state-owned companies would not affect the company's performance, in this case monitoring of the Board of Directors.
Erick also said that he did not want to be trapped in one or two figures. He stressed that the Ministry of SOEs would soon find the right replacement and encourage the birth of new figures.
"There are many good figures in Indonesia, we must not be trapped by 1-2 figures. Moreover, the day we see that the Indonesian nation is getting educated, the ethics is getting better, we are trying to encourage new figures," Ericn told reporters, Friday, November 10.

Erick also appreciated the firm steps to submit the resignation of the Commissioners involved in the presidential candidate campaign in the 2024 General Election. Erick said, according to the rules, commissioners, directors and BUMN employees should not be involved in campaigns.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of SOEs previously issued a circular letter number S-560/S.MBU/10/2023 regarding the involvement of the Board of Directors, the Board of Commissioners/Supervisory Board and Employees of the State-Owned Enterprises Group in the Implementation of General Elections, Regional Head Elections, and/or as the Executive of the Political Party or Acting Regional Head and Deputy Regional Head.

"If you enter the campaign team, you have to step down, we have to remind you. Because of the rules, the law (forbids campaigns)," he said.
