BNPB Anticipates Peak Rainy Season In January-February 2024
JAKARTA - The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) anticipates the estimated peak of the rainy season in Indonesia which will take place in January and February 2024.
Head of the BNPB Disaster Information and Communication Data Center Abdul Muhari stated that as many as 477 season zones or 68.24 percent of Indonesia's season zone (ZOM) entered the beginning of the rainy season in November 2023.
Abdul also said that the season in Indonesia is not evenly distributed, so there are several areas with different rainy season times and peaks.
In October, he said, northern Sumatra, western Kalimantan, and Papua had been intensely rained. It is estimated that the peak of the rainy season will be in January and February 2024.
"The January and February 2024 phases that we should have prepared from now on," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, November 8.

Therefore, BNPB emphasizes personnel from the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) to prepare equipment and coordinate for the rainy season.
"Check again for drainage and others, especially before it is at the peak of the rainy season, it is estimated that in January and February, we must prepare things related to preparedness and mitigation efforts to deal with potential risks," he said.
