Surabaya Mayor Require Hotels To Report Visitors To The COVID-19 Task Force

SURABAYA - The Mayor of Surabaya, Whisnu Sakti Buana, requires hotel or apartment managers to report visitors or guests staying more than three days.

This obligation is contained in the Circular Letter (SE) number 433.2 / 1308 / 436.8.4 / 2021.

"This is done to anticipate that no COVID-19 patient will undergo independent isolation in hotels or inns. This is an effort to break the chain of COVID-19 in the city of Surabaya," said Whisnu, in Surabaya, Friday, February 12.

In the SE, continued Whisnu, reports must also be notified to Disbudpar, the Surabaya City COVID-19 Handling Task Force Post or the Surabaya Office of Disaster Management and Linmas, Chairman of the BPD Association of Indonesian Hotels and Restaurants (PHRI) East Java.

Then the Chairman of the East Java Building Managers Association. The same letter is also addressed to hotel owners / managers, apartment owners / managers, guest house / homestay / lodging owners / managers.

"Hereby convey this to you, if there are guests or visitors who stay for three days or more, at the place or business that you manage to immediately report to the Surabaya City Culture and Tourism Office," Whisnu explained.

Whisnu admitted that he didn't want to be missed like before. Where his party claimed to have received reports of the phenomenon of dishonest guests, doing independent isolation at a hotel in Surabaya.

"When will the Polrestabes find it in a hotel, self-isolate due to COVID-19. This is a danger if he does not declare (announce)," said Whisnu.

According to him, this could have the potential for transmission. Hotel employees and other visitors, can be infected if guests are not transparent. In fact, transmission can continue if the spread is not immediately cut off. "That's why we have to break the chain," he said.
