The incident began when the husband of Paula Verhoeven received a WhatsApp message from an unknown person claiming to be a courier. "People who sent messages claiming to be couriers and sent a file to me. At that time, I was in the process of purchasing online goods, so I thought it was a legitimate message," Baim Wong said in a video Friday November 3.Baim then opened the file. There was something odd, he thought it might be just a busy activity. Just a few days after that incident, he realized that his account had been hacked.

"I just found out that my account was hacked a few days later. The bank notified me via a notification that there was a transfer of funds from my account to someone else's account.
