Survey Results Can't Be Used As A Benchmark For The Electability Of Presidential And Vice Presidential Candidates
JAKARTA The electability rate of presidential candidates (candidates) and vice presidential candidates (cawapres) which have recently been frequently published by survey institutions is considered unable to be a benchmark for facing the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres).
According to a political observer from Airlangga University, Siti Aminah, the results of a survey related to the electability of presidential and vice-presidential candidates cannot be a benchmark to conclude that a candidate is superior and worthy of choice.
This is because it is not uncommon for the results of surveys related to electability to be made certain candidates to discourage competitors.
"Electability from surveys is often used to cover up subtle prejudices by discourageing candidates who appear different from candidates who," Aminah said.

He also assessed that electability factors are often misused to manipulate or disrupt the choice of prospective voters.
The reason is, there are still many constituents or prospective voters who assume that if the results of the electability survey of one of the high-ranking candidates are more appropriate to choose from their competitors.
"It can be analogized that high-electability presidential and vice presidential candidates claim to be superior to others in terms of goodness, creativity, or producing political promises in campaigns," Aminah concluded.
