Lucasfilm And The Agency Broke The Contract For 'The Mandalorian' Actress, Gina Carano
JAKARTA - Actress Gina Carano was confirmed to leave the serial production of The Mandalorian as well as the Lucasfilm company after making offensive social media posts.
Carano's social media posts sparked a number of criticisms from netizens, one of which was when she compared a person's political beliefs to Jewish persecution in Nazi Germany.
Cited from Variety, Thursday, February 11, Lucasfilm said that Gina Carano had not joined Lucasfilm. "There are no plans for her (Gina Carano) going forward".
The company that produces the Star Wars franchise says that the social media posts that denigrate other people based on their culture and religion are unacceptable.
On the same day, Carano's agency UTA ended the contract with her.
Previously, requests for Gina Carano to leave The Mandalorian spinoff had been around for a long time. Carano supports anti-masks, accusing last year's presidential election fraud, as well as transphobia.
Fans flocked to request that Carano be fired, citing creator Jon Favreau, Disney, Disney Plus, Star Wars, and Lucasfilm accounts along with the hashtag #FireGinaCarano.
