BI Targets 12 Merchants Using QRIS In 2021, Most Of Them Are MSMEs
JAKARTA - Bank Indonesia (BI) is targeting to spread the use of the QR Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS) payment facility to more than 12 million merchants throughout the country.
Head of the BI Communication Department Erwin Haryono said that his party would encourage the participation of business actors and the government, both central and regional, to realize this target and at the same time accelerate the transformation of digital payments in Indonesia.
"QRIS has been implemented as a payment method in various sectors, thereby encouraging economic efficiency," he said, Thursday, February 11.
Erwin added, during a pandemic QRIS services can also reduce the intensity of online shopping without having to meet face to face.
"The implementation of QRIS which has been implemented in various sectors for payment transactions has provided benefits to boost economic efficiency, accelerate financial inclusion, and improve industrial competitiveness, including advancing MSMEs," he said.
For information, in 2020 the payment facility through QRIS has been utilized by 6 million merchants in 34 provinces throughout Indonesia. It is recorded that 85 percent of them are micro, small and medium enterprises or MSMEs.
"In the future, the support of all parties including the community will further accelerate the recovery of the national economy," concluded Erwin.
