Jude Bellingham Reveals Ambition After Winning Kopa Trophy

JAKARTA Jude Bellingham wants to lift more trophies with Real Madrid after he was crowned the winner of the 2023 Kopa Trophy.

The England international won Kopa Trophy at the 2023 Ballon d'Or ceremony in Paris, France, Tuesday, October 31, 2023 in the morning WIB.

Bellingham was chosen to outperform Bayern Munich Jamal Musiala, Barcelona duo and former award winners Gavi and Pedri, as well as his Real Eduardo Camavinga team-mate.

"This is a great list of players [who have won this award before]," said the former Borussia Dortmund player after winning, reported by BBC Sport.

"Winning this trophy means a lot. However, for me the most important thing is the team trophy and the important thing for me is to keep going and help Real Madrid and England win trophies over the years," he added.

Bellingham won Kopa Trophy thanks after scoring 14 goals in 42 appearances last season with Borussia Dortmund and helping England reach the quarter-finals of Qatar's 2022 World Cup.

This 20-year-old player is the fifth winner since he was first awarded in 2018. Prior to this consecutively won by Mbappe (2018), Matthijs de Ligt (2019), 2020 was eliminated due to the pandemic, Pedri (2021), and Gavi (2022).

"It's an honor to be in front of some of the world's best players here and some of the best players to have played this game," Bellingham said.

Kopa Trophy is a award given to the best performing player around the world under the age of 21. This award was awarded simultaneously at the Ballon d'Or event.

This award was given by France Football and taken from the name of the late French footballer Raymond Kopa. This player is the winner of the 1958 Ballon d'Or.

Meanwhile, for the main Ballon d'Or 2023 award, Lionel Messi won. This is the eighth time the Argentine international has received this award.
