Djarot Said PDIP Helped Gibran And Bobby Nasution Become Mayor Because Of Jokowi
JAKARTA - Chairman of the PDI-P (PDIP) DPP Djarot Saiful Hidayat said his party provided support for Gibran Rakabuming Raka and Bobby Nasution because of the figure of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi). The former governor of DKI Jakarta is said to have asked for permission from his son and son-in-law to run in the Regional Head Election (Pilkada).
"I'll just open it here, Mas Gibran is the mayor because Mr. Jokowi is a party cadre. When he wants his son to come forward, 'forward permission', of course, he will be assisted," said Djarot in a discussion, Monday, October 30.
"Not only his son, his son-in-law too," he continued.
Even so, Gibran and Bobby still have to proceed within the party. "For example, when he nominated the mayor, he went through a process. Being a member of the party. Even participating in a new party school means that he was proposed, promoted, and elected," said Djarot.
This necessity, continued Djarot, is intended to prevent dynastic politics. Because PDIP rejects this kind of thing.
According to Djarot, there are a number of steps they take to prevent dynastic politics. These include limiting a maximum of three families to occupy public office.
"So it cannot be in the PDI-P, her husband is PDI-P, his wife is the party X, his son is the party W, his younger brother is a different party. Imagine. With the hope that he will control parliament for example," he said.

Previously reported, Gibran officially registered with Prabowo to the KPU supported by the Advanced Indonesia Coalition, which consisted of nine parties including the Gerindra Party, the Golkar Party, the National Mandate Party (PAN), and a number of other parties including the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI).
This step made PDIP furious and said Gibran's membership automatically ended after he did not follow the party's decision. This is because the party bearing the bull symbol carries Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD in the 2024 presidential election.
Meanwhile, PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto revealed that Gibran took this stance because it was based on President Jokowi's political decision which was rejected by his desire to extend the presidential term from two terms to three terms.
