MSMEs' Involvement In Accelerating The Electric Vehicle Ecosystem In Indonesia
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs (Kemenkop UKM) encourages MSMEs to be involved in accelerating the electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem in the country.
"We are currently collecting MSMEs, so that later the component industry (electric vehicle) whose basis is MSMEs can support (support) part of the industry," said Deputy for Small and Medium Enterprises at the Coordinating Ministry for SMEs Hanung Harimba Rachman to reporters after being met at the 2023 EV Expo Inabuyer event at the Kemenkop UKM Building, Jakarta, Friday, October 27.
Hanung said that later the MSMEs would be involved in developing batteries for electric vehicles, including screwdriver components if any people were interested in converting conventional vehicles to electric vehicles.
"For MSMEs, there are many business opportunities that can also be utilized. Apart from production, there are also services that can be provided by our MSMEs, they can be dealers, workshops, or for sanctions," he said.
Even so, Hanung has not been able to reveal the extent of MSME involvement in accelerating the electric vehicle.
"We are still collecting (the number of MSMEs involved), we haven't got the exact figure, but a few years ago (the number of MSMEs) experienced a decline that entered the component industry (electric vehicle). So, this year we want to revive it again," he said.
